If you're not sure what decoration theme you should have at your wedding, the bast place to start is in your heart. Think about the things that interest you and your fiance the most. Perhaps you both enjoy the beach, the Wild West, the movies, the Renaissance period, or the season you are getting married in. Use your interests to choose your decorating theme and you will have a wedding that reflects your style.

Use the season your wedding is in to dictate the colors of your wedding. Seasonal flowers on the tables and arranged around the wedding and reception venue is appropriate for a spring or summer wedding. A centerpiece consisting of a cornucopia of fall vegetables or baskets of apples would be lovely for a fall wedding, along with orange and brown draping on the chairs and walls. A winter wedding could have an ice theme with blue and white depicting the cold of winter, ice sculptures placed around the room, and snowflakes or icicles hanging from the ceiling. Large white spider mums called Anastasia flowers make beautiful flower arrangements for a winter theme.

An easy-breezy casual wedding theme is reflective of the couple who wants simplicity in their lives. Decorate with raffia, burlap or paper lanterns. Place wildflowers, sunflowers and daisies in simple containers like pitchers for the centerpieces. A simple square container of wheat grass portrays a feeling of being in a field. Small candles in simple glass cups add a hint of flickering light.
