Yellow Wedding Reception Ideas

It is possible to arrange a monochromatic all yellow wedding reception, but it would not have much impact and could be considered boring. However, by adding an accent color, such as the hint of green or a vivid blue, you bring immediate visual interest and depth into the room. Design your wedding reception with a combination of flowers and decorations in yellow and the accent colors to give a fresh, airy appearance.

Accent Color

Select the shade and intensity of the yellow for your design before you select the accent colors. A bright yellow works well with lime green as they are both intense colors and the combination comes off as fresh and airy. Or, blend a pale yellow with a soft white to indicate romance and create soft lines, while a royal purple or vibrant blue mixed with yellow create other options for your color scheme. Rather than a black metallic accent, which may bring up images of a bumble bee, choose a chocolate brown or bronze for your metal accent color.

Showcase a variety of different yellow flowers in your centerpiece. A collection of daisies mixed with yellow roses create a playful effect, while plumerias and yellow lilies scream exotic. You can also mix the flower color to the accent color as you combine purple irises with yellow tulips or hydrangeas with yellow carnations or gardenias with yellow daffodils. Carry the yellow color through to the bottom of a clear vase as you add yellow-toned cut glass beads, yellow tinted plant gel or colored marbles.
