The next step is deciding on the colors you will use in your favors. Many people use coming holidays as the inspiration behind the colors used in their wedding decorations. Other people are influenced by the seasons or surroundings for their choice of colors. If you and your better half have favorite colors that go well together, maybe you could use them. Any color-scheme is a good color-scheme if it makes your wedding more unique and special to you.

The next step is how outrageous you'd like to go. If your wedding is small and down home, maybe you want a quaint accent piece as your wedding favors. This would be more simple to make, and would probably cost less. Or perhaps your wedding is going to be something huge and extravagant, in which case a bolder, larger piece would be more befitting. Keep in mind, however, that the bigger you go, the more money and time you are going to be putting into the makings of your favors. However, any amount of money and time should be well worth it if it means a more perfect day for the two of you.

Now that you might have an idea of what you want the favors to be, you can look into some materials. Some people favor shells over decorative plates, and some people like flowers while others prefer candles. All that matters is what looks right to you. Once the materials are gathered, you have to assemble them. This part requires a lot of hot glue, so you have to remember to put that on your shopping list. In the next paragraph I will describe how to make a few displays that I have seen used in the past.
